If you turn on automatic evaluation you only allow learners to access the next topic after they have completed the previous one. For each topic you can choose if you only want them to complete it or of you want them to get a particular grade to continue to the next one.

You can create quizzes in your topics with automatic evaluation meaning that learners automatically get access to the next topic if they do well enough in the quiz. It is also possible to provide learners with randomised questions and allow them to try multiple times until they have reached the goal. See more about quizzes here.
Log in as a teacher
Open the Groups | Courses tab to find the course/group you want to edit
Open the tab Topics in the group/course you chose
Swipe on or off for the automatic evaluation.
