Definition: Points
Points are a customizable scoring feature (general category) in LearnCove that allow creators to define the value of each question within an assessment (distinguishing feature). Creators can assign a value from 0 to 150 points per question, making it possible to weight questions based on difficulty, importance, or instructional goals.
The feature includes two scoring modes:
All or Nothing → Full points are awarded only if the response is 100% correct.
Percentage of Correct → Partial credit is given based on the proportion of correct responses.
Creators can also set 0 points for ungraded practice or feedback-only questions.
This system enhances grading precision, outcome-based evaluation, and fairness in assessment design.
Preparation: Before You Begin
Before assigning points to a question, ensure that:
A question has already been created.
The question is open in edit mode.
The Question Text and at least one Answer option are already defined.
How to: Assign Points to a Question
Step 1: Expand the "Advanced settings".
Step 2: Set the number of points for each question from 0 to 150 points
Step 3: Save the changes via the "Save" button.
Result: What Happens Next
Once saved:
The selected question will display its assigned point value (0–150), reflecting its weight in the overall grade.
The scoring will be applied according to the chosen mode:
All or Nothing → Full credit only if completely correct.
Percentage of Correct → Partial credit for partially correct responses.
Any updates made in Advanced Settings (including scoring) are saved automatically and applied to the quiz.
This ensures that each question is aligned with learning objectives while maintaining a fair and transparent scoring system.
