Definition: Introduction Material

Introduction Material is a supporting content feature (general category) in LearnCove that allows creators to attach files or media to activity questions (distinguishing feature). This material appears before the quiz question, providing learners with additional context, background, or guidance.

Key details:

  • A maximum of 3 files can be uploaded per question.

  • Supported formats include documents, images, videos, or other media.

  • If a file has a preview available, it will be shown; otherwise, the file can be downloaded.

This feature helps users prepare for the question and ensures they have the necessary resources to answer effectively.

Preparation:

Before adding introduction materials, ensure that:

  • A question has already been created.

  • The question is opened in edit mode.

  • The Question Text and at least one Answer option have been added.

How to: Add Introduction Material

  1. Expand the "Advanced setting".

  2. Click to "+" button in the "Introduction material" row.

  3. Click the "D&D" section to upload file from your device. Selected files displayed in the "Uploaded files" section.

  4. Click "Save" button on the "Add resource files" modal and "Save" whole question.

Result: What Happens Next

Once saved:

  • The uploaded files are displayed on a separate page before the question.

  • Files with a preview option (e.g., images, some documents) are shown for immediate viewing.

  • Files without a preview are listed and can be downloaded by users to their devices.

This ensures users have access to all supporting resources before attempting the question, enhancing comprehension and performance.
