Definition: Singleselect Item

A Singleselect item is a single-response question type (general category) in LearnCove where users can select only one answer from a drop-down list (distinguishing feature). This layout provides a clean, compact interface, making it especially effective for structured data collection.

Singleselect items are ideal for checklist activities that require:

  • Confirming status (e.g., Completed / Not Completed)

  • Recording frequency (e.g., Daily / Weekly / Monthly)

  • Capturing one predefined response with clarity

Preparation: Before You Begin

Before creating a Singleselect item, ensure that:

  • A Checklist Activity has already been created.

  • The creator has access to the Question tab within the activity.

How to: Create a Singleselect Item

  1. Navigate to the Question tab and click the Add button.

  2. From the list of available item types, select Singleselect.

  3. Enter your content into the Question Text field. (This field is required.)

  4. Fill the answer option in the Answers section, in needed add the additional option using "Add more" button. (there can be up to 10 options)

  5. Click "Save" to finish creating the question.

Result:

Once saved:

  • The Singleselect item will appear in the Checklist activity.

  • Users will see the question displayed as a drop-down list.

  • Users can select only one option from the list.

  • Their selection will be stored as part of their activity progress and results.

This format ensures clarity, structure, and efficiency, especially when only one response is needed from a defined set of choices.
